Satheesan declares his assets, has Rs.3,000 in hand

V.D. Satheesan, the fire-brand Congress leader who represented Paravur constituency for three consecutive terms, has just Rs.3000 in hand, while Saradha Mohan, his key opponent from the Left Democratic Front (LDF) possesses Rs.15,000.

According to the income tax retuns filed by Mr. Satheesan, his annual income stands around Rs.2.83 lakh. He has deposited Rs.61,333 in various financial institutions and owns a car worth Rs.18 lakh. His wife Lakshmipriya has an investment of Rs.4.89 lakh, in addition to Rs.26,989 in the name of his daughter Unnimaya.

Mr. Satheesan also possesses assets worth Rs.26.97 lakh, while his wife has assets worth Rs.36.83 lakh including 150 sovereigns of gold. The properties he own include 15 cents at Kottuvally and another 36 cents at Maradu. His wife owns property of around 2.95 cents valued at Rs.3.30 crore.

Meanwhile, Saradha Mohan has assets worth Rs.29.03 lakh, in addition to a building valued at Rs.10 lakh at Perumbavur. She also owes a debt of Rs.2.60 lakh to various financial institutions. Her husband Mohan has Rs.20,000 in hand, in addition to Rs.1.55 in the name of her dependants.

In his affidavit, M. Swaraj, the LDF candidate from Thripunithura has declared that he has Rs.15,000 in hand, while his wife has Rs.20,000 in cash. Swaraj has a deposit of Rs.26,435. His wife owns gold jewellery of around 25 sovereigns and a car valued at Rs.6.14 lakh. While Swaraj owns no property in his name, his wife owns 370 sft. land at Peroorkada and a house with a built up area of 1,555 sq.ft. She also owes a total debt of Rs.4.56 lah.
