Regular updates and revisions to Chartered Accounts (CA) course is essential for meeting the demands of the modern society, said Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) president M. Devaraja Reddy.
Speaking on sidelines of a two-day orientation programme aimed at managing committee members of branches of Southern India Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (SIRC-ICAI), here on Monday, Mr. Reddy urged the students to acquaint themselves with the latest in the fields of accounting, auditing, finance, IT etc., ICAI has been proactive in designing education and training schemes for producing competent professionals.
The revised scheme for education and training would now include two entry routes – Foundation and Direct,” he added.
Elucidating on the highlights, Mr. Reddy said that students after appearing for their class XII examinations can register for the examination under the ‘Foundation’ route.
“Those passing the examination will attend a study period of eight months and then into practical training, spanning three years (i.e., after passing either/both groups of intermediate),” he said.
With regard to the ‘Direct’ entry, Mr. Reddy said that commerce graduates (with minimum 55 percent marks) or other graduates (with 60 percent marks) and students who have cleared intermediate level examination of ICSI/ICWAI can join the course.
