Unable to hear hubby’s cries, deaf woman crushed by bus
Nagpur: Leelabai Kurmi, 50, was killed under the rear wheels of a State Transport bus at a turning near Mor Bhavan on Monday. Tragically, Leelabai’s husband Lakinarayan tried to alert her by shouting warnings but she could not hear him as she was hearing impaired.
Police said Lakinarayan, suffering from throat ailments, had gone to Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment along with Leelabai.
The couple was heading towards the bus depot on foot when the incident took place. Leelabai who was trying to walk dodging the illegally parked rickshaws was unable to see the bus taking turn to enter the depot and was crushed under it.
Traffic was disrupted on the stretch for some time. An offence was registered against the ST bus driver at Sitabuldi police station.
