Chennai: A city court will on Friday pronounce its verdict in the auditor assault case in which Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati is the prime accused. Radhakrishnan, an auditor at the Sankara Mutt, his wife Jayasree and assistant Krishnan were attacked at their Mandaveli residence on September 20, 2002.
The Foreshore Estate police filed a 600-page chargesheet detailing various offences, including attempt to murder and conspiracy, against 11 people, including Jayendra Saraswati.

On Monday, special public prosecutor N Vijayaraj appeared before the first additional sessions court of P Rajamanickam. Directing all the accused to be present in the court, the judge posted pronouncing the verdict to April 29. The incident took place more than 13 years ago but police pursued the case vigorously after the murder of Sankararaman, a critic of Sankara Mutt, at the Varadarajaperumal temple in Kancheepuram. The trial began on February 20, 2012.
