Home buyers' protests: Noida admin comes forward to settle issue
NOIDA: District administrate NP Singh has directed superintendent of police Dinesh Yadav and intelligence officers to make a list of protests and identify the developers.
"We will specifically deal with each case. We will organise meetings of home buyers with their respective developer. The meeting will also be attended by the district administration and district police representative," the DM said.
The DM said holding protests will not work and sound illogical, which is leading to law and order problem. There is a need to sit together and settle the issues, he said.
Keeping home buyers' protest in mind the local intelligence unit has given input that this could lead to a major law and order problem in the district. The police have written to the district magistrate along with local intelligence unit a report to take steps to avoid untoward incidents. TOI has accessed a copy of LIU (local intelligence unit) report, which flagged that large number of home buyers' protest could lead to any major law and order problem.
"I have asked intelligence unit to note down a list of protests, their developers, issues and persons leading the protest. With that list, we will hold meeting between concerned developer, their home buyers group in the presence of Noida Authority's officials to settle the issues and avoid untoward incident," Singh said.
"We need to find out whether there are issues between home buyers and developers or between home buyers and Noida Authority. If delay is found at Noida Authority's level, we will ask Noida Authority to speed up work and close. We will ask the developers not to make tall promises, and give a list of priorities and line of action," Singh said adding that the administration will keep holding meeting between developers, home buyers group and Noida Authority till the issues are not settled.

"There are many developers, who due to mismanagement or market conditions, could not live up to their promises, which led to anger among the home buyers. There are developers, who are payment defaulters of the authority. Due to delay of payments, the authority is not issuing completion certificate hence registries cannot be made. There are home buyers, who have to pay bank installments and rents as well. To display their anger, the home buyers are regularly holding protests without informing district administration and police," Singh further said.
"Several people are participating in the protests against developers. Keeping that in mind there is a need to initiate immediate action before it turns into untoward incident. Protests are on against Amrapali, Jaypee, Earth, Era, Ajnara, Bhasin, Supertech etc. So there is need to organise peaceful meeting between developers and home buyers," LIU report added.
"Protests have been conducted against Amrapali's Sapphire project in Sector 45 and in its another project Amprapali Silicon City Sector 74 and 75. Similarly protests have been conducted against Hart Beat project in Sector 107, Surpertech's and Omexe developer against in Sector 93B. News of Supertech's project flat seal also triggered panic and anger among the home buyers," the report further said.
In the report, Noida and Greater Noida industrial development authorities are also blamed.
Commenting on the issue, superintendent of police Dinesh Yadav said that to maintain law and order in the district there is a need to take necessary action. "Home buyers are protesting against their respective developers. On many occasions police find it difficult to deal with situation during heated arguments between home buyers and developers or their representatives. There is a need to address the issue on priority basis," he said.
