Residents of Mandar Bagh, Basant Bagh, Bhagwani areas here staged a protest against alleged delay in relief distribution to the flood affected people. The protester including females assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and alleged that indifferent attitude of Tehsildar South is annoying and unacceptable. “During floods hundreds of houses were damaged while earlier Tehsildar had conducted a detailed verification to assess the losses. But the new Tehsildar has started a new verification that has caused delay in relief distribution. Neither the incumbent Tehsildar is expediting the verification process nor is she ready to listen anything from us,” the protesters told CNS. They said that more than 59 cases are pending in the office of Tehsildar South. “Whenever we visit Tehsildar office, we find her absent. We don’t know how to pursue our case when the attitude of the officials particularly Tehsildar South is indifferent towards us,” Rifat Banoo a protester said.Tehsildar South Srinagar city, Nuzhat Banoo said that she has directed Naib Tehsildar to look into the pending cases. “As a public servant, I have to ensure transparency. I assure the victims that they will get their due,” she said. (CNS)
