Gazprom - Russian energy leading company - is aimed at increasing the gas production on the Sakhalin shelf in the near future, Gazprom Deputy Chairman Vitaly Markelov said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia’s Gazprom energy giant plans to double the production at Kirinskoye gas field on the Sakhalin shelf, extracting up to 1.12 billion cubic meters of gas and 182,0000 tons of gas condensate in 2016, Gazprom Deputy Chairman Vitaly Markelov said.

"This year it is planned to produce about 1.12 billion cubic meters of gas and 182,0000 tons of gas condensate. Currently, the construction of wells is continuing at the Kirinskoye field," Markelov said in an interview with Gazprom corporate magazine, published Monday.

In 2015, Gazprom extracted 600 million cubic meters of gas and 100,000 tons of gas condensate at the Kirinskoye field.

The Kirinskoye field is part of the Sakhalin-3 gas project, which is the main supplier of gas for the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok system that delivers natural gas to regions of Russia’s Far East.
