Balika Vadhu leap: Meet Anandi’s daughter and other new characters

Popular TV show Balika Vadhu will take a time leap on Monday to kickstart season two of the daily soap that has been running on our television screens since 2008. The show is all set for a 15 years’ time leap.

The new season that begins on Monday evening, will trace the life of Anandi’s daughter Nandini, the lead character that will be essayed by Mahhi Vij.

On Balika Vadhu, fans have watched the innocent Nandini struggle and fight against injustice after she was trapped in a child marriage. 15 years later, she comes across Dr. Amit (Avinash Sachdev) who will guide her through her journey to become a successful doctor striving for the betterment of humanity. A visiting medical intern from the US, Krish (Ruslaan Mumtaz), will add a zing of fun and happiness to Nandini’s life. Both Dr. Amit and Krish will become an intrinsic part of Nandini’s life.

Speaking about portraying Nandini on-screen, Mahhi Vij said, “Balika Vadhu is a lot more than a television show - it is a way of life for viewers who have followed the story closely. It has touched lives in many ways. Becoming a part of the show as Anandi’s daughter, Nandini, is going to be a mammoth task.”

“Nandini’s ideology of love is self-destructive and it’s with Krish and Dr. Amit’s help that she finds love, happiness and her true purpose in life. Now, as I embark on this new journey, I hope that the viewers’ unwavering love will continue to support Balika Vadhu’s legacy,” she added.

Commenting on his role as Dr. Amit, Avinash said, “Being associated with a much-appreciated show like Balika Vadhu puts a lot of responsibility on me as an actor. Dr. Amit is Nandini’s rock. He motivates her, helps her to achieve her dreams and in the process ends up developing feelings for her. But, aspects from his past will deeply impact his personality, and will impact the future he envisions for himself as well”.

Playing the role of Krish, Ruslaan Mumtaz said,“Krish’s enthusiasm will attract Nandini to him and he brings laughter to her life. Krish helps Nandini find her true identity and individuality in a fun and jubilant way”.
