PSB staff to protest outside Parliament on Tuesday

More than 500 employees and officials of public sector banks (PSBs) across the country will participate in a dharna outside Parliament on Tuesday to protest against the government’s proposed move to consolidate PSBs and privatise IDBI Bank, among other issues.

More than 500 employees and officials of public sector banks (PSBs) across the country will participate in a dharna outside Parliament on Tuesday to protest against the government’s proposed move to consolidate PSBs and privatise IDBI Bank, among other issues.

Janak Rawal, joint secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), said: “AIBEA will be holding a general council meeting on April 25 to discuss the issues plaguing our sector, and we will hold a dharna outside Parliament the next day.”

After a meeting of employees on Sunday, AIBEA, which has over 6 lakh public sector bank employees as members, has also given the call for a nationwide strike on May 25.
