The International Miniature Painters’ Camp being held at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi campus has been drawing huge crowds.
The camp introduces different styles of miniature paintings formed in the country and outside in a single venue, says Kerala Lalithakala Akademi chairman Prof. Kattur Narayana Pillai. Around 40 artists across the world, including eight from the State, are participating in the camp.
The camp presents yet another ‘Painting Pooram’ for the land of Thrissur Pooram. Seminars led by eminent art critics about the history and development of miniature painting forms and various cultural programmes including Baul music, folk art forms, Manimala Chitrahar, and Asthatapadi are also the attractions in the camp. Many art connoisseurs are visiting the camp to watch the live process.
Addressing a Kavi sammelan organised as part of the camp, Kerala Sahitya Akademi president Perumbadavam Sreedharan said that paintings will make literature more vibrant.
Paintings developed before literature, he added.
Poets Rosy Thambi, Sebastian, Raju Narayanathra, Sreelatha Varma, Madhavai Menon, Ramachandran, and Varghese Antony presented poems at the camp. Bodhi Cultural Centre, Nooranad, performed a play on Sunday. The camp will conclude on Tuesday.
