Film stopped, removed from cineplex after protest
Lucknow: Screening of the film Santa Banta Pvt Limited was stopped at PVR Phoenix in Alambagh here on Sunday, following angry protests by members of the Sikh community. The management cancelled all future shows of the film replacing them with screening of The Jungle Book movie. Protesters, both men and women charged up to the mall on Sunday afternoon carrying black flags, tore the film's posters and raised slogans against the film and the Censor Board, after which the show had to be stopped and cancelled.

Instead of tickling the funnybone of the audience, the protesters said the film portrayed the Sikh community in a bad light. "Our Sikh brothers sacrificed their lives for the motherland and they call us fools. We are number one, not fools and the world knows that," said Rajender Singh Bagga, head of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Lucknow.
Reacting to the aggravating situation, the mall management cancelled the show and refunded ticket money to the audience. "We have also cancelled all future shows of the film at the mall. It will not be screened here at all," confirmed cinema manager Anshul Srivastava, .
Members of the community present at the mall said protests will be held again if film is screened in future and claimed to approach the Censor Board.
