New Delhi: A 19-year-old girl, identified as Sadhna, died in mysterious circumstances at her in-laws' place in southwest Delhi's Sagarpur area on Saturday evening. The girl's family alleges that her in-laws, who had been demanding
dowry for the last few months, have killed her after their demands were not met. Police have arrested Sadhna's husband.
Sadhna married her husband, Chand Tiwari, in January this year.
According to the police, the matter came to light late evening on Saturday when her in-laws informed her parents that she has committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling. Her family members, who allege it to be a dowry-related
death, called up the police.
"There were no external injury marks on her body and the body has been sent for post mortem to ascertain the cause of death. Statement of the family members has been recorded and they are being questioned," said a senior police officer.
"Prima facie, it seems to be a suicide but we are probing into it. No suicide note has been recovered," the police added.
