Arsenal fans could do with some good news right now. Thanks heavens, then, for Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners may have strikers who have forgotten how to score goals. They may be unable to beat Sunderland. They may be in danger of missing out on a top four place.

But at least their German Assist King can now say he has officially had the most creative Premier League season on record.

Yes, Ozil has now broken the record for most chances created in a Premier League season (well, since 2003, anyway, which is when Opta started counting).

With three games to play in 2015/16, Ozil has now created 137 chances for his Arsenal team mates, putting him top of the all-time Premier League list.

Mesut Ozil controls the ball

The previous record holder was Frank Lampard, with the 134 chances he created for Chelsea in 2008/09.

No great surprise to see Ozil and Super Frank in first and second place. But the player in third?

This, you may struggle to believe.

In third place, with 117 chances created for Chelsea in 2010/11, is…

Flourent Malouda????

Bizarre.
