“It has been three years. Delay in justice does not help. We demand swift completion of trials,” said Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Siddiqur Rahman.
In 2013, the Rana Plaza building, which housed several garment factories, collapsed leaving more than 1,100 people dead.
Another one thousand were rescued from the rubbles, most of them maimed.
The same day police initiated two cases— one for murder and the other for violating building code, which await indictment hearings.
A year after the collapse, the Anti Corruption Commission started another case over violation of authorised plans in the construction of the building.
The court has ordered a re-investigation on this matter.
The BGMEA claims that the victims have been compensated ‘properly’.
“No one complained,” the BGMEA chief Rahman told reporters after paying respect to the victims at the Jurain Graveyard in Dhaka.
