Irish acts steal the show - and judge's hearts - on last night's Britain's Got Talent

An all girls choir from an Irish secondary school appeared on last night's Britain's Got Talent - and blew the socks off all four judges.

The 57-strong Presentation Senior Choir from Kilkenny scooped four big Yes's after a unique performance of Adiemus, from Welsh composer Karl Jenkins.

Veronica McCarron

Choral director of the group of 14-18 year olds for 21 years, Veronica McCarron succeeded in getting some flirt action from Simon Cowell.

"I like your glasses, by the way. You look cute," he told the Donegal native after she revealed she knew of his love for Welsh choirs.

One of the talented students said that Ms McCarron travels to their school to spend a week of every month to practise with the girls.

"She's the glue that holds this choir together," she said in the pre-roll to their incredible performance.

Another Irish act from Belfast also grabbed the attention of the judges, especially David Walliams who whacked down his Golden Buzzer.

Ian Marshall, 64, and his wife Anne, 61, put their own spin on Crazy In Love by Beyonce and stole the hearts of Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden with their unconventional performance.

"I think you really are the spirit of Britain's Got Talent, the pair of you," Walliams told the loved-up pair.

"You spend your whole lives doing something else, you've got this beautiful relationship and you did a Beyonce song for no apparent reason."

After he pressed the buzzer, Cowell quipped: "I just knew David was going to do that, but actually, for once, I get it."

The couple, who met while serving in the army and have now been married for 44 years, said the Beyonce hit sums up how they feel about each other.

Another act that definitely deserves a mention - but that we unfortunately can't claim as Irish - is 17-year-old dancer Balance Unity, also known to his friends as Taylor Goodridge. He mixed humour with incredible dancing, throwing in a Susan Boyle impression for good measure.

Craig Ball (24) also did a hilarious job of imitating entertainment figures, including Kermit The Frog, Miss Piggy and Family Guy's Peter and Stewie Griffin, as he sang Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus.
