New Delhi: Indian wrestling great Yogeshwar Dutt on Saturday hit out at at the appointment of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as Goodwill Ambassador of the Indian contingent for Rio Olympics 2016.

Questioning Khan's contribution to sports in India, Dutt stated that legendary athletes like PT Usha and Milkha Singh would have been better choices for this role.

The 33-year-old made these remarks on social micro-blogging site Twitter.

This clearly infuriated Salman's fans who slammed the Olympic bronze medallist.

Yogeshwar hinted that Salman's main intention was to promote his upcoming film 'Sultan', adding that Olympic Games was not the platform to do the same.

Salman was unveiled as Goodwill Ambassador of the Indian contingent for Rio Olympics 2016 at the Olympic Bhavan on Saturday. 

Interestingly, the megastar was late by over an hour for the event. On his arrival, the 50-year-old joked that the delay was due to AAP government's Odd-Even scheme.

Yogeshwar, who has already qualified for the Rio Games. will represent the country in the 65kg category.
