Contracts for Metro 2-A to be awarded by mid-May

A total of 17 bids have come in to construct Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro line. The contracts are likely to be awarded by mid-May by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)-Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Earlier this week, tenders for 18.60-km long Metro-2A were received to design and construct viaduct and elevated stations along the corridor.

"Technical bids have been opened. Evaluations of technical tenders are underway. Once this is through, we will open the financial bids and will accordingly announce the final results in the coming few weeks," said Sanjay Sethi, additional metropolitan commissioner of MMRDA.

The construction of Metro-2A has been divided into two packages. Each of the two packages has an estimated cost of around Rs700 crore, which is an approximate reserve price to implement the project. The completion cost of this 18.60-km elevated metro line is pegged at Rs6,410 crore and will be built on the median of New Link Road of western suburbs.

In the first package, design and construction of viaduct and 8 elevated stations has been included, these metro stations are Anand Nagar, Rushi Sankul, I C Colony, Eksar, Don Bosco, Shimpoli, Mahavir Nagar and Kamraj Nagar.

For this package, there are nine bidders, namely, Simplex, J Kumar, Tata Projects, Reliance Infrastructure, Soma, IL&FS, Larsen & Toubro, YFC and Afcons have submitted their technical specifications as well as quotations.

Whereas, the second package includes the balance eight stations and the viaduct along the way, these stations are Charkop, Malad, Kasturi Park, Bangur Nagar, Goregaon, Adarsh Nagar, Shashtri Nagar and DN Nagar.

In all eight tenders have been received from Simplex, J Kumar, Tata Projects, Reliance Infrastructure, Soma, IL&FS, Larsen & Toubro and Afcons have submitted their technical specifications as well as quotations.

The DMRC and MMRDA officials are planning to award the construction bids by mid-May so that preparatory work can commence just ahead of monsoon and the project gets ready by March 2019.
