Restructure crop loan, banks told
Yavatmal: Yavatmal district collector Sachindra Pratap Singh has instructed nationalized banks and Yavatmal District Central Cooperative Bank to reconstruct the crop loan disbursed to farmers last kharif season before April 30 and ensure that all farmers in the district are given crop loan by May 15.
Conducting a review meeting with the representatives of the banks on Thursday, the collector has also made it clear that the state government has declared the entire district drought hit as its anewari has been calculated less than 50 paise.
“Naturally, all farmers are entitled for government sponsored schemes and they must get the crop loan without any difficulty.”
Of the over one lakh farmers who have bank accounts, 55,000 have so far availed the crop loan from nationalized banks. “I know there are farmers who avail crop loan from multiple banks. To avoid this, the crop loan is now shown on respective 7/12 extract but it is rather tedious for farmers to get no due certificates from the patwaris,” said Singh adding that to avoid this issue, the administration will post a list of crop loan takers on its official website so that bankers can verify the names and avoid repetition of loan.
The collector further said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is scheduled to hold a review meeting on crop loan and its restructuring on April 24 after which the picture would get clearer.
The YDCC Bank has played a key role in disbursing crop loan to farmers and the same is expected this year also, Singh said.
Representatives of nationalized banks attended the meeting.
