Man critical after north Qld stabbing, car ram

A 53-year-old man has been charged after an alleged stabbing north of Mackay early Sunday morning.

Police were called to a residence at Slade Point Road at Slade Point after reports a man had been stabbed.

Police said they were investigating several lines of inquiry.

A 58-year-old man was found in serious condition with two stab wounds to his shoulder and abdomen and was transported to Mackay Base Hospital.

It is alleged the younger man repeatedly rammed his car into the injured man's vehicle before the alleged stabbing.

Police believe the two men were known to each other.

The 53-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.
