I went through multiple auditions for my role in Wagah: Ranya
A lot of Kannada girls are making inroads into the Tamil film industry. The latest actress to join the bandwagon is Ranya, who will be making her debut with Wagah. The film directed by GNR Kumaravelan has Vikram Prabhu in the lead. Ranya says that bagging this role wasnt that easy. I had several auditions before I was confirmed for this film.
My manager had circulated my pictures. GNR sir happened to see them and called me. He first had a quick audition and then wanted me to experience the character by having a look test. Since I didn't know the language, he wanted to check my dialogue delivery, too. He later wanted to see if my chemistry with Vikram Prabhu would work. So, we had to do a photo shoot and video shoot. Only after this, he was convinced, laughs Ranya, adding, I know it was a long process. Initially, I didnt think much about getting through this film or not. But once I went through multiple auditions and saw how professional the team was, I was eager to work.
Ranya plays a Tamil girl who is brought up in Kashmir. I play a young girl, who falls in love with Vikram. The character has many shades and that gives me a lot of scope to perform, says Ranya. While the team had shot many portions with the support from military, the entire Kashmir schedule was hectic, says Ranya. We had to shoot in various climatic conditions. On one side, we had to climb the mountains with the team carrying all their equipment in -15 degree. We later shot in hot weather conditions, too. But with her co-star Vikram Prabhu and the team helping her, Ranya says that she managed to make her debut with the best team. Vikram was a very supportive co-star. I was worried since I didnt know the language, but he was very helpful. The director and the assistants, too, helped me make my debut very smoothly, she signs off.
