Patna: The owner of a private hospital at Gopalganj, Rahul Kumar (25), has been threatened with dire consequences if he failed to pay Rs20 lakh. An FIR was lodged with the Mohammadpur police station in Gopalganj in this connection on Saturday morning.
Mohammadpur police station SHO Vikas Kumar Singh said Kumar received the threat SMS on his cellphone on Friday evening.
The person demanding extortion had identified himself as Guddu Sharma. Singh also said the extortionist has provided a bank account number in the SMS to deposit the money.
SHO Singh said police were trying to know the details of the bank account holder. Police were also trying to get the call detail record of the sim card used for sending the SMS. The SHO said Kumar is a native of Bada Daud village under Paro police station in Muzaffarpur district. He has been running the hospital for the past 10 years at Mohammadpur Chowk in Gopalganj after his father KK Singh died. He also said the family also owns property at prime locations in the district. Kumar's mother handles the hospital administration and lives on its premises.
