For 3.2 km long CPR, Huda to sell out Rs 500 on land acquisition
GURGAON: For the acquisition of land for 3.2 km long Central Peripheral Road (CPR), Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will spend around Rs 500 corers, while the construction of the stretch of road would cost just Rs 22.80 crores.
“Out of the total cost of the project –Rs 522cr, nearly Rs 500cr will be spent on acquisition of the land for the project,” said senior Huda official adding that executing development projects like construction of roads are becoming huge financial stress for the development body mainly due to high price of land acquisition.

In the past few years, Huda has went into debt from surplus, due to which development projects have either stalled or have been moving at a snail's pace. Huda official put the blame on the 2013 high court directive that awarded enhanced compensation for land acquisition. “Now high cost of land acquisition has increased the cost of development projects,” he said.
Elaborating further he said for the construction of 3.2 kg long CPR, which connects Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) also known as Dwarka expressway with Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), Huda has to acquire nearly 100 acre of land in Harsuru, Sinhi Village, Mohammadpur Jharsa and Narsinghour.
For acquisition of 0.5937 acre land in Harsaru village Huda will have to pay Rs 1.88 cr per acre, 52.19 acre of land in Sinhi Village Huda will pay Rs 1.91 cr per acre, for 15.72 acre in Mohammadpur Jharsa Huda will pay Rs 2.18 cr per acre, for 31.16 acre in Narsinghpur Huda will pay Rs 2.40 cr per acre.
“Land acquisition department has submitted a demand of Rs 500 cr to urban estate director for acquisition of land for CPR,” he said adding that land acquisition will start after receiving the required fund.

Additional chief secretary of department of town and country planning, P Raghvendra Rao said award will be announced for acquisition of land for CPR by May 15. “Land acquisition will start by next month, with the announcement of award land owners will be given compensation and authority will take possession of the land,” said Rao.
In the meanwhile, engineering wing of Huda has prepared detail project report (DPR) for construction of CPR. The road construction will cost Rs 22. 80 cr. “We have forwarded the DPR to chief engineer and expected to get technical approval by next week,” said senior Huda official. The land is expected to be handed over to Huda by the end of May and they will immediately start the work.
