IMPHAL, April 22: The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has sought to produce a white paper on misappropriation of Thang-ta reimbursement funds for the year 2003 to 2016 by the Huyel Langlon Thang-ta Association, Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at its office, DESAM secretary general N Edision alleged that Huyel Langlon Thang-ta Association Manipur president Yumnam Premkumar has diverted the reimbursement funds amounting to about Rs 28,13,509 for the period from 2003 to 2016.
The Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur has given reimbursement funds to players who had participated in national and international championships, he said.
Edision further said that the State government has sanctioned the said amount during the respective years, however Premkumar did not distribute the amount to the respective players.
He claimed that Premkumar has become the autocratic president of Huyel Langlon Thang-ta Association Manipur for over 36 years.
The DESAM appealed to the Thang-ta players not to participate in the national and international championships under the banner Huyel Langlon Thang-ta Association, Manipur until the president produces a white paper on the issue.
