JAC calls Yairipok bandh

IMPHAL, Apr 22: The Joint Action Committee Against the Hit & Run Case of Oinam Kunjamani Meitei has clamped a 24 hours bandh in Yairipok area with effect from 5 am of April 25 if the concerned authority fails to book the culprit (s) involved in the hit & run case.

Medical, religious rituals, educational institutions and fire service are not covered by the bandh, said a press release of the JAC.

According to the JAC, Kunjamani, 72, who hails from Yairipok Laimanai was hit by a speeding diesel auto at Wangkhem along Yairipok-Thoubal road on April 18 around 10. 30 am.

He is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity, North AOC in a critical condition.

The JAC reiterated that an FIR was lodged with the Yairipok Police Station following the incident but no action has been initiated so far.

However, the JAC said that the bandh will be relaxed if the culprit (s) involved in the incident is booked before April 24 and punish in accordance to the law.
