Kanimozhi slams Jaya for silencing dissent

Coimbatore: DMK Rajya Sabha MP M K Kanimozhi slammed chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday for alleged silencing of dissent and protests in the state.
Seeking to bring back memories of the government servants protest during Jayalalithaa's previous regime, Kanimozhi said the high handed attitude continued in the current regime too when all those who protested against the government were slapped with false cases.
"She will book a case against all those who oppose, dissent and question her,'' Kanimozhi said seeking votes for Singanallur candidate N Karthik at Ondipudur.
Standing atop the campaign vehicle, Kanimozhi alleged that the entire state police force was used only to foist cases on rivals and opponents while law and order in the state was deteriorating. "Anti-social elements returned to the state after AIADMK took over in 2011. Since then, there have been one lakh cases of burglary and theft reported across Tamil Nadu. There have been 3,500 cases of crimes against women and 2,500 perpetrated against children,'' Kanimozhi alleged. "All this happened while the police were being used only to foist cases on rivals. There is no safety in TN,'' she said.
