Hanuman Jayanti celebrated

April 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - Bidar:

A palanquin procession was taken out from the Hanuman temple on Janawada Road in Bidar on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on Friday morning.

Mass prayers and various rituals were conducted in Hanuman temples in the new as well as old city.

Some temples organised mass feeding.

Heated argument

A group of youth who tried to organise a bike rally without seeking proper permission got into a heated argument with police officials at the Paapnaash Shiva temple on Udgir Road.

The agitated youth shouted slogans against police officials.

The police had to resort to lathi-charge to control the situation.

BJP leader Suryakanth Nagamarapalli and Bajrang Dal leader Ishwar Singh Thakur visited the spot and spoke to the police officials.

They requested the police to allow the rally, saying due applications would be submitted.

Bajrang Dal and members of other organisations later took out two rallies, in the morning and evening.
