Police said that Jadhav’s son, Prem, plays cricket for the Mumbai Cricket Association and is a part of its under-19 team. Police said that Jadhav happened to meet Goyal through a common friend sometime around April in 2014. He then promised to use his political contacts to include Prem’s name in the Gujarat cricket team. Goyal allegedly demanded money from Jadhav for getting this done. Accordingly, Jadhav allegedly gave Rs 5 lakh to Goyal during a meeting at a hotel in Fatima Nagar area in April 2015.

Police said that Goyal did not fulfill his promise. So Jadhav kept on calling Goyal and demanded his money back. However, he neither got the money nor was his son’s name included in the Gujarat cricket team. So Jadhav finally approached the police and filed a complaint against Goyal.

Festive offer

Police inspector D N Dhole of Wanavdi police station is investigating the case. Police have not been able to trace Goyal yet. When contacted, sub inspector Dhole said that search is on for Goyal. “He falsely claimed to have strong political links. He used to wear stylish clothes and spoke in such a way that Jadhav started believing him,” Dhole said.
