AGRA: In a gruesome act, a woman was allegedly burnt alive after she was tied to a pillar by four men at her home in Etmadpur. Her body was found close to the pillar.
The woman was identified as 50-year-old Rajvati, a widow and mother of three sons, who was living with her younger son in a secluded area barely 500 metres away from Chirwai village of Etmadpur area.
Speaking to TOI, elder son of the victim Dinesh said, “On Thursday evening, my younger brother Makhan saw flames and smoke coming out from the direction of our home.
He ran towards home and found our mother burning while being tied to a pole.”
“He screamed for help, after which villagers ran to douse the fire. Later even fire brigade came to rescue, but it was too late. Everything in the home was burned to ashes along with our mother,” he claimed.
“My brother later told that while running towards home, he saw four men - Ramu Singh, Dharmveer Singh, Ram Kishan and Jogendar, who had long time enmity with our family, running towards the jungle. We believe it were they who burnt our mother alive,” Dinesh added.
“An FIR has been lodged against the under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees) against the four people,” Barham Singh, station officer of Etmadpur, said.

According to the police sources, Ramu and Jogendar have been detained while the other two are still absconding. A forensic team was sent on Friday to victim’s home to collect every possible clue to establish the involvement of accused in the case.
Sources claim that after Rajvati’s husband death, her brother-in-law Nihal Singh was living along with her family. Two years back he was allegedly found murdered and his family members, the accused in this case (Ramu, Dharmveer and others), had held Rajvati and her family resposible for his death.
Reportedly, Rajvati and her sons were booked by the police but she was granted bail along with Dinesh and Makhan, while her third son Karan is still in jail.
