This week's ALI Group BDM for Perth has spent 13 years in the finance industry in Australia.

ALI Group BDM for Perth, Alexis Halsted went straight into the finance industry after school in South Africa, and then worked for a pension company in the UK before coming to Australia.

BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDM’s in the country.

How often do you see brokers in a week?
At least 4 days a week are spent in front of brokers.

What do brokers want most from you?
Assistance with positioning loan protection, understanding insurance and overcoming objections.

What is your favourite part of the job?
Helping brokers grow their business and protecting their customers.

What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Good knowledge and “Care Factor”. I recall one broker telling me that no matter how busy he is, he never rushes appointments with his customers and always finds time to go through everything, including protecting themselves.

Describe your ideal weekend
Friends, family and good food!

What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
One of our brokers had a client who was working fly-in fly-out in Africa. They were pleasantly surprised to learn that ALI’s Loan Protection would cover them for their occupation in mining, even overseas. 

How do you like your steak done?
Medium-rare
