Now, post mortem facilities at Chattrapati Shivaji hospital to be available till 10pm

Thane: Post mortem facilities at the TMC-run Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial hospital will now be available till 10pm.
Corporator from ward 21 B Kharegaon, Umesh Patil, raised the issue asking that why was the postmortem facility at the hospital only available till 5pm. Relatives of victims, especially those who come from far off places faced huge problems as the facilities were available only till 5pm.
The administration claimed that they were facing staff crunches but assured that the facility would be made available till late evening.A medical officer and class four workers will be on duty soon following which the facility can be made operational till 10pm, informed standing committee chairman Sanjay Waghule.
“The postmortem of those who are killed in mishaps or ailments in the evening is often conducted the following day as the facility is functional only till 5pm. The kin of these victims, especially those who come from mofussil areas of the district, often end up waiting for a day or more as it takes time for all formalities to be completed which is insensitive,” said Patil.
