ISLAMABAD  - Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi Wednesday directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to remove blasphemous material from internet. According to a handout from the National assembly Secretariat Abbasi asked for an immediate action.
“Acting Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi took serious notice of blasphemous material on internet and through a letter directed Chairman PTA Dr Ismail Shah to take immediate action,” said the handout.
It further said that the social media websites facebook and Youtube have tones of blasphemous material against the prophet Muhammad.
The content hurt the sentiments of the Muslims as loving prophet is part of the faith of the Muslims. The handout waned that no disrespect to the prophet would be tolerated at any cost. Acting speaker directed PTA to immediately stop the profane material and take strict action against those who initiate such content. Pakistan unblocked the video streaming website early this year after a suspension of more than three years.
YouTube was blocked in Pakistan in 2012, after the video sharing website refused to off load blasphemous material.
