The Osea Kolinisau-captained Vodafone Fijian 7s team have set their focus in winning the two remaining tournaments in the European leg of the World Sevens Series.

If this they succeed they will create history scoring their third series title with a back to back win.

“Next stop is Paris and London and we have one leg already in the series to defend our title,” said Kolinisau who became the first Fijian to play a record 50th tournament in the series history.

Fiji lead the series with 147 points ahead of South Africa (139), NZ (135), Australia (115) and USA (95) in fifth spot.

“We have one leg in the series, like this last year we were eight points behind compared to eight points ahead now.”

Fiji is the top seed in Pool B of the Paris 7s alongside arch rival Samoa, Scotland and Wales.

“We need to continue this momentum and we are going to reach our goal as a team. We have learned a lot in Singapore, we found out how tough it was for the boys,” he said.

He added that 30-7 loss to Kenya in the Singapore 7s final was a learning curve for the boys.

“Kenya played really well and they deserved to win. We did not play to our level and catch up rugby is really hard to deal with,” he said.

“For us giving Kenya the win is a win in disguise as they were far behind in the points table. We want to be beating NZ and South Africa in the Singapore 7s. This puts us on a good note.

“It ok for us as Kenya were playing their 146th tournament. I was happy to see them win as I was still in high school when I started seeing them play.

“Playing and getting a win in their career means a lot to them, their nation and to fans and those that are following the sport.”

The Paris 7s kicks off on May 13-15.
