Fire in IJK office

April 22, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - TIRUCHI:

The party election office of the India Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) on Poovalur Road in Lalgudi was destroyed in a fire in the late hours on Wednesday.

On information, the fire tenders from the Fire and Rescue Services at Lalgudi rushed to the spot and doused the flames. There were no casualties.

Fire broke out a few hours after the IJK founder Parivendhar sought votes for its Lalgudi candidate Selvakumar in Lalgudi. Suspecting foul play, IJK and BJP cadre, staged a road roko on Lalgudi-Poovalur road at the early hours on Thursday. The protest was withdrawn after the assurance of the police that the incident would be investigated properly. — Special Correspondent
