Jeeyar performs celestial wedding

April 22, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - TIRUPATI:

Sri Ramachandra Ramanuja Jeeyar, pontiff of the Bhimavaram-based Bhashyakarla Siddhantha Peetham, performed ‘Govinda Perumal Kalyanotsavam’ at Siddheswaram in Ramachandrapuram mandal near here on Thursday.

The Jeeyar announced to build his Ashram in this remote village, adding that any place at the foot of the Tirumala hills would be considered blessed. He recalled how saint Ramanuja climbed the Tirumala hills on his knees, as the entire hill appeared to him as a sacred ‘Salagrama’.

It may be recalled here that the pontiff had performed ‘Sri Mahalakshmi Yagam’ on a large scale last year at the sprawling college campus owned by the family of former MLA and TTD Chairman Chadalawada Krishnamurthy. Mr. Krishnamurthy attended the event this year too. He assured all support to the noble cause on behalf of the TTD.

TTD board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy welcomed the plan to build an Ashtalakshmi temple in the village.
