Ludhiana: Government Senior Secondary School for Boys, Jawahar Nagar, on Thursday did not allow 50 candidates to appear for rescheduled Class X and XII exams of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), sparking a protest by the students outside the school.
According to information, the exams had been rescheduled for for students who had missed them earlier.
In the entire state, there were two centres, one in Mohali and the other one in Ludhiana.
In the morning, candidates from different districts started reaching the examination centre. However, commotion followed after the 50 candidates were not allowed to appear. "These candidates had not deposited the fee for the rescheduled exam. That is why their names are not on the list. Ideally, candidates have to inform the board that they are appearing for the exam, so that arrangements are made accordingly," said Balwinder Singh, manager of the regional office of Punjab School Education Board.
A candidate, Satnam Singh from Badal village, said, "I was appearing first time in such an exam and I had no idea that an extra fee was supposed to be deposited . The public notice issued by board did not mention the fee."
Now, all the candidates have written to the secretary of Punjab School Education Board, G S Bhath, to hold the exam again.
