21.74% usable water left in 203 dams of Gujarat

Following are the highlights of briefing of sub committee of cabinet on water scarcity:

– 994 villages are declared partial scarcity-hit. 157 villages are from Jasdan, Vinchhiya and Upleta talukas of Rajkot district. 343 villages are from Jamjodhpur, Jamnagar rural, Kalavad, Lalpur, Dhrol and Jodiya talukas. 129 villages of Khambhalia, Kalyanpur, Bhanvad and Dwarka(Okhamandal) talukas of Devbhumi Dwarka district. 301 villages of Bhuj, Banni, Abadasa, Lakhpat, Rapar and Bhachau talukas of Kutch district. 64 villages of Porbandar, Ranavav and Kutiyana talukas of Porbandar district.

– 435 lakh kg fodder is available in various godowns of forest department of state government.

– Five affected districts Rajkot, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Porbandar and Kutch are supplied enough stock of fodder.

– Fodder depots will be opened in 6 talukas of Banasksantha district in response to demand from locals.

– As on 19 April, 1,37,520 laborers are employed through 2128 works under MNRGA scheme. Of them 284730 are involved in water conservation related works, 53072 in water body repair works, 3743 in forestry related works and 872 in small irrigation works. Rs 43.67 crore payment has been made to these laborers in this financial year while in 2015-16 this payment was Rs 306.07 crore.

– Gujarat government has planned fodder cultivation.

-In 203 dams of Gujarat including Sardar Sarovar dam, 3,503.87 million cubic meter water is available which is 21.74%. In irrigation dams, water will be reserved for drinking purpose till 30th June. At present irrigation water is released from 13 reservoirs for 1,20,400 hectare land. Out of 202 reservoirs across the state, water is reserved for drinking purpose in 56 reservoirs.

-Dharoi, Mukteshwar, Sipu, Guhai, Mazam, Hathmati, Meshwo, Panam, Dev, Kadana, Pata Dungri, Machhannala, Damangamga, Ukai, Juj, Kiliya, Tappar, Godhatad, Rudramata, Mitti, Hiran02, Ozat vier, Bhadar, Aji-3, Machhu-1, Fofal-1, Nyari-1, Bhadar-2, Ozat-2, Khodiar, Dhatarvadi, Shetrunji, Rojki, Machhu-2 are 34 reservoirs where water is available till 30 June.

-Urgent works are planned in 835 villages across 8 districts in view of shortage of drinking water.

-As on 19 April, 317 villages are supplied water through 1044 trips by 252 tankers. In upcoming days 468 villages will need water supply through 500 water tankers

-Narmada water supply was 1100 MLD till now. It has been scaled up to 2000 MLD. 1300 MLD water is supplied through Kadana, Panam, Dantiwada, Dharoi, Sipu and other schemes.

-4 platoon (150 jawans) of State Reserve Police(SRP) are active to stop illegal lifting of water.
