Ex-RJD MLA, son shifted to Beur jail
Gaya: Former RJD legislator Rajendra Yadav, currently serving life term in a murder case in Gaya Central Jail, and his son Ranjit Yadav, who is also facing trial in a murder case, were shifted to Beur Central Jail, Patna, on Thursday to ensure free and fair panchayat elections in the district.
Ranjit Yadav, Rajendra's two daughters-in-law and one sister-in-law are contesting theelections from Atri block area of the district.
Gaya DM Kumar Ravi confirmed Rajendra and Ranjit's shifting to Beur jail.
Present Atri RJD MLA Kunti Devi and wife of Rajendra is also a murder case accused. Kunti is currently out on bail. Besides the father son duo, three other Gaya Central Jail inmates have also been shifted to Beur. The three other jail inmates shifted to Patna are panchayat election candidates.
Rajendra, it may be recalled, once escaped from judicial custody during transit between the district court and Gaya Central Jail during production in connection with dozens of cases in which the the former Atri MLA figured as accused.
In the 1990s, Rajendra, the then MLA escaped from being burned alive during a thwarted house grab move in the Panchayati Akhara locality. TNN
