An election flying squad, which was checking vehicles on the Attur-Rasipuram state highway in Salem district of Tamil Nadu, seized 150kg of explosives on Thursday.

SALEM: An election flying squad, which was checking vehicles on the Attur-Rasipuram state highway in Salem district of Tamil Nadu, seized 150kg of explosives on Thursday.
The flying squad intercepted a car and found 150kg of explosives in it.
Car owner Balakrishnan (45) of Tammampatti claimed that he had bought the explosives to blast boulders in his farm well.

Though Balakrishnan produced bills, officials refused to believe his explanation. They seized the explosives and the car which were later handed over to Attur constituency returning officer M Selvan.
