Beerwah in central Kashmir observe strike

Srinagar, Apr 21 (UNI) Life was today crippled in Beerwah town in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, where people are protesting against the arrest of a youth and raids on the residence of others during the past few days.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was also off the roads due to spontaneous strike. Work in government offices, banks and educational institutions was also affected.
Security forces had a tough time to chase away the demonstrators, mostly youths, demanding immediate release of the arrested youth. The demonstrators alleged that security forces were conducting raids on the residence of several youths and trying to frame them in false cases of stone pelting.
