1 Nanny nicked by con artist. A woman living in the 8100 block of Westside Street, Roxborough Park, called police on March 21 after she was defrauded for $2,600 by a woman she thought she had agreed to nanny for. The suspect said she had a special needs child and wanted to hire the victim. The suspect sent a $2,600 check and asked the victim to wire most of it to Russia where the suspect’s sister was waiting to buy a new wheelchair. After the transfer, the check bounced and the victim lost track of the suspect.

2 Thief leaves knife behind in car. A man was staying at a friend’s apartment in the 9700 block of Pyramid Court, Douglas County, on March 12 when he found someone had entered his car and stolen his backpack, phone charger and car jack. The thief left behind a black bag and a folding knife.

3 Vandals blast block. Several residents of the 6700 block of Founder Villa Drive, Douglas County, reported their fences and other public property had been spray painted overnight on March 13. The graffiti included racial slurs and lewd drawings.

4 Mailbox melee. A man living in the 8600 block of East Summit Road, Douglas County, on March 20 discovered that his plastic mailbox had been smashed overnight. At least three other residents on the block also had their boxes damaged.

5 One bike, two bike … A man was counting his bikes in his garage in the 10400 block of Snowbird Drive, Douglas County, on March 16 when he realized one was missing. He is not sure when the $420 mountain bike was taken.
