With Steven Tyler pursuing a solo career as a country singer, and telling Rolling Stone that Aerosmith is considering doing a “farewell tour” next year, we should not be surprised that members of the band are lining up other gigs. Guitarist Joe Perry, for example, has said he’s working on a solo CD and has enlisted the likes of Iggy Pop, former New York Doll David Johansen, and Terry Reid to sing. Now comes word that bassist Tom Hamilton will be holding down the low end for a revamped Thin Lizzy that’s hitting the road. “I’m really psyched to be playing these shows with Thin Lizzy during my downtime with Aerosmith this summer,” Hamilton said in a statement on the Thin Lizzy website. “It’ll be great to rock out to their classic songs onstage.” Thin Lizzy — minus bassist/singer Phil Lynott, who died in 1986 — has festival dates, including two nights in Germany, where they’ll join Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, and in Spain, England, Sweden, and the Rock Legends Cruise V with Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, REO Speedwagon, and Don Felder.
