Meeting to monitor expenditure

Collecltor S. Ganesh on Wednesday convened a meeting of poll officials at the Alangudi, Pudukottai and Aranthangi taluk offices.

He discussed the steps to be followed for monitoring the expenditure being incurred by the candidates contesting for the Assembly segments. Jayabarathi, Amreeth and Ramyadevi, all Returning officers, were present.

Mobile re-charge operators should immediately inform the election officials about any bulk re-charging by an individual.

Addressing the operators here on Wednesday, S. Meenatchi, District Revenue Officer, said any suspicious re-charging by individuals for a number of mobile phones should be immediately brought to the notice of the election officials.

She said that the village level committees had been constituted for monitoring the violations under model code of conduct.

Special survey

A special door-to-door survey for ascertaining the children and differently-abled children who have not been enrolled in schools will be held throughout the district in two phases, said S. Ganesan, Chief Educational Officer, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.

In a release issued here on Wednesday, he said that the first phase of survey would be conducted from April 5 to 30 and the second phase from May 17 to 24. Children dropped out of schools will also be ascertained.
