Two workers injured in fire

Two workers suffered serious injuries in a fire that broke out in a lorry workshop in Vengaivasal, near Tambaram.

Kannan (35) and his colleague, Kannan (34) of Vengaivasal, were carrying out welding work, when the fire broke out. Other workers put out the fire in about 30 minutes. The duo was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, said Selaiyur police.

Fire at dumping yard

A fire broke out at Kannadapalayam dumping yard in Tambaram on Wednesday afternoon, leaving behind a thick layer of smoke causing inconvenience to motorists on Chennai Bypass.

Two fire tenders from Tambaram brought the fire under control in about one hour.
