A 30-year-old agricultural labourer from Chennigalapura in Hoskote was killed in a freak accident when the explosives he was preparing to trap wild boars exploded on Tuesday night. Due to the impact Gopinath sustained severe injuries. The deceased was preparing a sulphur and phosphorous mixture, laced with food, to trap wild boars.

Illegal practice

This is a common and illegal practice among villagers, a police officer said.

The incident came to light when a few passersby noticed Gopinath lying in a pool of blood, and they alerted the police. The Nandugudi police rushed to the spot and found the sulphur and phosphorous powder from the scene of the crime.

A case of unnatural death has been registered, and further investigations are on.
