No rules as UP board recognises schools

Allahabad: Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has granted recognition to 682 unaided schools across the state without ensuring whether they fulfill eligibility criteria for the same. The list, brought before the regional recognition committee, was reportedly approved without going into the details.
The state education department has now asked the UP Board to verify all the schools before issuing the letter of recognition.

The matter came to light when the board sent the list to the department for consent claiming that all schools follow rules and regulations laid down. However, the board failed to provide documents to support its claims.
State education department joint secretary Anil Kumar Bajpayee said, "Before giving letters of recognition to all the schools, the board has to ensure that they have funds to conduct exams."
