Minor offers tongue to God

Raipur, Apr 20 (UNI) An 11-year-old daughter – of an underprivileged peasant dwelling in Raigarh District’s Sangitarai village – has severed her tongue to ‘appease’ Lord Shiva, police said.
Chameli Siddar took the step using a knife on Friday afternoon at a shrine in the vicinity of her village and offered the organ to the Shivling in the sanctum sanctorum.
The girl is at the temple for the past six days and refusing to go home. The matter has been brought to the sub-divisional magistrate’s notice.
