Awards for Yorkshire firm

by Mark Rowe

East-Yorkshire based manufacturer Heald Ltd reports that Managing Director Debbie Heald was named Director of the Year (up to £35m) in the inaugural Yorkshire Business Leaders Awards.

Heald Ltd designs, makes and installs hostile vehicle mitigation systems which aim to prevent targeted terrorist attacks on sites. Their client base includes embassies, palaces, stadia, oil refineries and banks. Products include patented bollards, roadblockers and barriers.

The family-run business collected the Yorkshire Business Leaders award at the Millenium Gallery in Sheffield in March 2016. Broadcasted by Colin Murray, the awards were founded by Elevation Group, Aon, August Eqity, BHP Chartered Accountants and HSBC with Insider Media.

Also at The Northern Power Women awards, Heald picked up the Small Business award. Heald reports that it’s a strong supporter of gender diversity in the workplace, as demonstrated by Debbie’s interest in working with STEM organisations to encourage other females to follow her into the engineering industry.

Debbie Heald said: “We are honoured to have been recognised for our commitment over the last year. We certainly didn’t expect to win two awards already this year! The award wins are certainly a testament to the hard work and efforts of the team.”

Heald recently joined the UKTI’s passport to export programme; visit www.heald.uk.com.
