Prof Bansal appointed IGU Rewari VC

SHIMLA: Founder Chairman and Director, Institute of Vocational (Tourism) Studies, Himachal Pradesh University from July 1999 to March 2007, Prof SP Bansal, who is at present the Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Agrasen University, Solan, has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari for a period of three years or till he attains the age of 68 years whichever is earlier.

Founder Chairman and Director, Institute of Vocational (Tourism) Studies, Himachal Pradesh University from July 1999 to March 2007, Prof SP Bansal, who is at present the Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Agrasen University, Solan, has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, Rewari for a period of three years or till he attains the age of 68 years whichever is earlier.

Prof Bansal is the first Professor to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Multi Faculty University. Earlier Prof Rajinder Mishra and Prof Indrani Chakarvarti were appointed Vice Chancellors of Sampurna Nand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, and Music University in Khairagarh, respectively.

Prof S P Bansal has been advisor and visiting Professor, University of European Tourism (UET) Italia, Milano, Europe; Visitors’ Nominee (2015-18), JawaharLal Nehru University (JNU); Nominated Member of Board of Governors (2016-19) of IITTM, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; Member, New Education Policy -2015 by UGC/MHRD.

He had been Chairperson of the UGC expert committee for granting autonomous status to affiliated institutes of India and SAARC president, Tourism and Hospitality Educators and Researchers Association of ASIAN Countries. — TNS
