Union minister Radha Mohan Singh and local MP adopted 10 villages and named them as 'Gandhi-Gram', which were visited by Gandhiji during his stay in East Champaran.

Motihari: Union minister Radha Mohan Singh and local MP adopted 10 villages and named them as 'Gandhi-Gram', which were visited by Gandhiji during his stay in East Champaran. The villages are Chandrahiya ,Gajpura, Piprakothi , Jasaulipatti , Rajpurkothi , Jalaha, Sirani, Malahi , Olaha and Rampur.
The minister announced this on Wednesday and also promised to transform the villages by providing quality education, sanitation and self-employment through Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Kendra.
Narrating the details of village development plan he said, "Each village will have a bust of Gandhiji. All the houses of these villages would be provided toilet and drinking water facilities under Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan project. The villages would be also linked with pucca roads and have electricity.""Last week, the minister had laid the foundation of one Satyagrah Bhawan at Chandrahiya village at a cost of Rs 15 lakh on the campus of Gandhi Smarak. The building will be utilized as skill development training centre," said the minister.
All the rural artisans including dalit men and women would be trained in bamboo and wood craft to promote it as cottage industry.
These artisans will be provided financial help from banks. Efforts are on to utilize the funds allocated under different 84 Centrally- sponsored schemes for all-round development of these selected villages within a year.
