IPL MI vs RCB: Mumbai Indians win by 6 wickets

Kieron Pollard smashed a 19-ball unbeaten 40 which was studded with three sixes and four boundaries to steer Mumbai Indians to an emphatic six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 171, a solid half century from skipper Rohit Sharma (62) anchored their run chase before Rayudu (31), Buttler (28) and Pollard's fireworks saw them home with two overs to spare as they made 171-4.

Abdulla claimed three for 40.

Mumbai are racing towards the target with Pollard smashing two consecutive sixes. MI 157-4, 17 overs.

Buttler perishes after hammering two consecutive sixes off Abdullah. MI 140-4, 15.4 overs.

Travis Head and Sarfaraz Khan lift RCB to 170-7 after being put into bat by Mumbai Indians.

After a breezy stand of 59 between Kohli and AB de Villiers, RCB slumped to 99-4 before a fifth wicket stand of 63 between Head (37) and Sarfaraz (28) who were dismissed in the final over.

Bumrah claimed three for 31 and Krunal Pandya two for 27.

Bangalore have made six changes: Binny for Rasool, Head for Gayle, Richardson for Wiese, Abdulla for Chahal, Aaron for Aravind and Rahul for Jadhav.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will miss the services of explosive batsman Chris Gayle when they clash with Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 14 of IPL9 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday.

Gayle wanted to be with his partner Natasha Berridge and has flown back home to meet his new-born son.

The 36-year-old Jamaican posted his picture on Instagram on Tuesday and wrote 'I'm on my way, Baby', referring to his partner.

Bangalore's young batsman Sarfaraz Khan confirmed the news ahead of their match against Mumbai.

"Gayle has become a father, so he has gone home to visit his family and son," Sarfaraz said at the pre-match press conference.

Both teams are coming at the back of defeats and will be keen to return to winning ways.

MI lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, while RCB lost to the Delhi Daredevils at home.

Mumbai have a 9-8 edge in contests between them and Bangalore are concerned.
